After reviewing several high end toaster ovens, a friend of mine recommended the Cuisinart TOB-40. I decided to give it a try and see what this particular toaster oven does. Let me say this is the best 6 slice toaster oven you can get with a solid build and great design.
Housed with stainless steel, the Cuisinart TOB-40 doesn’t just look pretty on the outside but it is also powerful on the inside. Running on 1800 watts, this toaster oven is good for cooking anything from a simple cheese topped toast to a whole chicken meal. An 11-inch pizza can fit in this.
Plus, the auto slide-out rack available in the toaster oven is convenient for easy removal of food, so you wouldn’t burn your hand from the heat. An automatic shutoff feature is also present for safety purposes, with an indicator light that will remain turned on whenever the toaster oven is being used. Let’s not forget to mention how the toaster oven comes with a cord storage that enables you to keep any excess cord so your countertop will be mess-free.
I also like the Cuisinart TOB-40’s rubberized grip dials. Aside from the required ON/OFF button, there are three built-in controls situated on the right hand side of the toaster oven. You can select any cooking option of your preference from the function dial by simply turning it, with cooking methods ranging from Toast, Bagel, Bake, and Broil.
You can manually change the temperature of the bake and broil function by turning the temperature dial, and a toast shade dial is used to create different shades for your toasts, letting you choose between light, medium or dark.
This large toaster oven also comes with a baking pan and drip tray, which can be used solo or together with the broiling rack for roasting and baking.
Like all toaster ovens out there, a removable slide-out crumb tray sits at the bottom of the Cuisinart TOB-40. Simply slide it out to empty and clean the tray after letting the toaster oven cool down. The oven rack and greasy drip tray should always be washed once you finish using them. To clean the inside of the toaster oven, just wipe it with a damp cloth along with some soapy water as the interior of the toaster oven is coated with nonstick material, making cleanup a piece of cake.
At its price the Cuisinart TOB-40 is not cheap, but worth its value for build, performance and design. The one downside is that it doesn’t have convection. If you are searching for a toaster oven that is large in size with convection or one with digital controls, this toaster oven might not be suitable for you. But a toaster oven that is good enough to fulfill all your essential baking needs, is attractive and durable? Choosing the Cuisinart TOB-40 would definitely be a no-brainer.
